Education[edit]

I have removed list of educational institutions from Jhansi page, I have created a new page for the same Educational Institutions in Jhansi with link from Main page. If any one want to add new school/college please add to this new page under appropriate section. It will be helpful in managing the whole article. Thanks --Rahulsahgal 17:42, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have added Kendriya Vidyalaya of Jhansi which is not there in the list. Thanks satish sitole (talk) 05:13, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

High Resoluton imagery of Jhansi at Wikimapia[edit]

High Resoluton imagery of Jhansi is available at Jhansi at wikimapia (earlier it was low resolution images and it seems Google Earth have uploaded high resolution images sometime in Sep 2006). One can locate and then add placemark for their school/house etc. Vjdchauhan 07:24, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

High resolution imagery of Jhansi is now available beyond Kachehari Chouraha towards the East. So one can now identify all the places in and around interstate bus stand, Shivaji Nagar, Medical Colege, Bundelkhand University, Engineering College, etc. Amod Bhagwat, 16 June 2007.

Eminent people associated with Jhansi section[edit]

I have merged Eminent people associated with Jhansi to this page. But in fact that big ugly table should simply be deleted. There is an obvious subjectivity concern with the use of the term "eminent" and as far as I can tell this is a pretty arbitrary group of people and it's unclear what purpose it actually serves in the article. Also the detailed biographies are redundant for the individuals that already have an article. Pascal.Tesson 18:41, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed on your Wiki page about Notable people from Jhansi, there is a Mention of a guy by name Randeep Rai. There is nothing notable about this guy. The info being added about him is either by a fan or someone from his PR team. He has just gotten popular with a show that it NOT ONE AMONG THE TOPS TV Shows in India. It's only watched by teenagers and young adults who seem a lot disillusioned by him and his looks and the character he plays. He has done some ads on TV (which no one knows, and he proclaims) and has just been signed for a C grade bollywood movie that may not even reach the theatres. Never, I repeat never nominated for any award nor has received any credit for him to be added among stalwarts and thoroughbred achievers. Please ensure you give some credit to the kind of info that being added. Some C grade actor can't just get on wiki and make a show of it on social media for his own PR. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.225.38.72 (talk) 13:37, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@165.225.38.72:, the fact that Randeep Rai has his own standalone article is enough for establishing notability because articles on living people go through appropriate scrutiny and are kept only if notability is established. If you believe his article is not worthy enough, you are free to nominate that article for deletion. Also, "notability" and "achievements" are different things, Poonam Pandey and Dhinckak pooja also don't have much chievements or awards but they have their articles because notability is established. Hope you understand the difference.. thank you. --Adamstraw99 (talk) 14:16, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Eminent people associated with Jhansi section[edit]

I agree with Pascal.Tesson. Also description about some persons in the table lacks any references.Only names should be there as the famous persons already have separate articles dedicated to them.Vishwas008 (talk) 14:36, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

India's map[edit]

I have seen on Jhansi page, that the state of Arunachal Pradesh and some parts of Jammu and Kashmir state are depicted in different colour. Does Wikipedia maintain that the above mentioned regions are disputed with the neighbouring countries? While Jammu and Kashmir was officially merged in India, and soon after that, Kabaylis(supported by Pakistan army) attacked the region and when cease fire was announced, a line was drawn, marking the actual positions of control by India and Pakistan. But Arunachal Pradesh is being governed by India, completely. It should not be considered a disputed region. China has some difference of opinion on the border between India and China(MacMahon line), but this is the fact that the whole state is being governed by India. That is why I am surprised to see Arunachal Pradesh being shown in different colour! This mistake should be corrected. ~User:Ab_18 Amod Bhagwat 13:02(IST), July 02, 2007.

Fair use rationale for Image:ACCORD.jpg[edit]

Image:ACCORD.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Jhansi wrongly shown on the map![edit]

The India's map aligned to the left of the Jhansi page, wrongly depicts the exact location of jhansi. The Red dot put up to show jhansi's location lies in the state of Madhya Pradesh!--Vishwas008 (talk) 08:02, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

History of the 1857 revolt[edit]

It is evident from reading this section of the article that it is biased towards those who undertook the revolt. Descriptions of those who killed numerous men, women, and children as 'brave' only serves to produce a one-sided view of the event. It is particularly distressing when an ancestor of mine was one of the European officers 'massacred' in the incident.

I would argue that an objective history should be written here instead. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nm168 (talkcontribs) 15:19, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Inhabitants[edit]

Some more information about the people who live there would be useful like estimates of the usage of Hindi and Marathi, &c, languages and perhaps something about the size of the city in the 1850s.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 13:44, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"In earlier times Jhansi was bigger than Dehradun, Udaipur and many other cities but due to a slow rate of growth the city is now[when?] far behind these cities in growth as well as development. The population of Jhansi in 1901 was about 55,000 while Jhansi district's population had been about 407,000 in 1891.[1] The majority of the population in April 1858 (estimated at 5,000 killed) died in a massacre during the Indian Rebellion against the British East India Company's rule.[2]"

Schools[edit]

Like this one (*Kendriya Vidyalaya, Babina Cantt., Jhansi) many of the schools appear to be in Jhansi districts rather than in Jhansi city.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 09:51, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mega City[edit]

How long is it since Jhansi became a mega city? A while ago it was labelled as such but this got reverted.)--Johnsoniensis (talk) 05:40, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edits[edit]

(1) Expand Catalan does not apply as the Catalan WP article called «Jhansi» is about Jhansi State (2) Princely State of Jhansi is redirected to Jhansi State (3) The Catalan text was just left in by mistake; there is a problem with the population since the city and the urban agglomeration populations are less than 25 persons apart. Whether the Indian or British ways of writing such numbers should be followed I cannot say. (In the Indian subcontinent they think of large numbers in lakhs and crores.) That section needs attention from an editor who understands India well and it is important that Census 2001 and Census 2011 are not muddled up.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 14:36, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of images[edit]

Hi All, I have a query, is it right and encyclopedic according to Wikipedia guidelines to add images like of a local hotel, school, mall or any place of worship. For example in the article there are lot of images which are just local with no historical or cultural significance. I had managed to move images in gallery section. Please help me what should be done in the article. Work2win (talk) 06:26, 31 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removed names associated with Jhansi[edit]

Hi All,

I have removed names of "Maithili Sharan Gupt" and "Vrindavan Lal Verma" as persons born in Jhansi, since these persons were born in places in Jhansi district, not in the Jhansi city, of which the article is about. For any discrepancy, please discuss.
