Inclusion of initials in title[edit]

All of the references I see to the organization refer to it simply as the "Jewish Publication Society", or abbreviate it as JPS. There seems to be no reason to title the article "Jewish Publication Society (JPS)" with the initials included. Can anyone explain why this should not be moved to lop off the initials in parentheses? The only reason I can think of is that the editor who moved it is a newbie. It shouldn't have the initials. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 18:25, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

K'tonton series[edit]

The Library of Congress online catalog lists seven K'tonton titles written by Sadie Rose Wallerstein (select "LC Online Catalog"). JPS is the listed publisher from 1976. Wallerstein was 41 to 101 years old when these first editions were published, except she died at 99.

Changing "Recent publications" to "Notable publications"[edit]

"Recent publications" is problematic for several reasons: it is vague to begin with (how long ago is "recent"?), it quickly dates itself, the dates need to be given inline (a troublesome and pointless effort), the order of the list would need to be chronological to make any kind of sense (I don't even know if it is at the moment) and our readers probably don't care anyway. I understand the JPS's website listing recent publications, but Wikipedia would be much better listing publications that have their own Wikipedia articles (or are likely to have them in the future).

Also, the Jewish Study Bible and Outside the Bible are both almost certainly much more notable and more recent that several of the items of the list presently.

I am leaving the other items on the list pending verification, but I cannot vouch for their "notability" one way or the other.
