August 2020[edit]

The following was added to my talk page, but felt it should also be here for a historical record. Epachamo (talk) 12:46, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A page you created has been nominated for deletion as an attack page, according to section G10 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

I have reviewed the page, and it is not an attack page and does not qualify for CSD G10. —C.Fred (talk) 23:46, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The image of the CES Letter foundation has been removed, citing that it does not meet WP:NFCCP "8. Contextual significance. Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding." Just like any number of articles that have foundation logos, this particular logo meets this criteria. There are a number of other logos for foundations and companies on any number of comparable wikipedia articles that have been deemed acceptable. If there is disagreement, please explain why an article like National_Wildlife_Federation or Animal_Planet meet criteria #8, but this does not. Epachamo (talk) 20:52, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

For the other uses you mention, the nonfree logo is used in the article about the organization itself. The primary subject of this article is not the organization, but a person associated with it. The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo). Treated like dirt by many administrators since 2006. Fight for freedom, stand with Hong Kong! (talk) 04:55, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
"CES Letter" links to this page right here. The section that had the logo was about the CES Letter foundation. There is nothing in WP:NFCCP that indicates that the logo must be used in the article about the organization itself. In fact, WP:NFCCP #9 seems to allow for this. And, stand with Hong Kong. Epachamo (talk) 03:08, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
See Splunk (Splunkbase) for an example where the logo is part of a section of the article, not the article itself. Epachamo (talk) 17:00, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

References that discuss the CES letter being influential in people leaving[edit]

The argument was made after deleting content that the sources don't back up the claim that the CES Letter was influential in people leaving. Here is a direct quotes from one of those references. From Matthew Harris' book "The LDS Gospel Topics Series" he states "Four websites, in particular, have provided the impetus for LDS disaffection. One of the most influential sites is Jeremy Runnell's 'Letter to a CES Director' ... In April 2013, he posted his 'CES Letter' online, and within days it went viral, generating thousands of hits."
