Is This Page Being Used By Advocates?[edit]

Both external links on the page are to groups that want to "free" Jeffery Lee Wood. The description of his crime presents as fact several false claims made by Wood as he attempted to beat his case. These claims were rejected by a jury. The jury's finding - beyond a reasonable doubt - that Wood is guilty should be treated as reliable. It is certainly more reliable than claims made on the internet by advocates trying to secure Wood's release. Advocates do Wikipedia, and society, a disservice by omitting facts and presenting a one-sided view of this murder. Matt90266 (talk) 00:30, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What false claims are you referring to? Wood did not put on a defense at his trial. Dehirf (talk) 17:07, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wood’s claim that he acted under duress, for example, appeared here. But the jury’s finding that he is guilty of murder includes a finding that Wood had no defense for what he did. Not duress, not self-defense, not heat of passion. If there is not enough evidence to raise a doubt in the mind of even one juror, there’s not enough evidence to put it on Wikipedia. Three jurors from Wood’s trial have submitted affidavits stating that they no longer think Wood is deserving of the death penalty because of information omitted by the State. Dehirf (talk) 17:57, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
