"Renegade"[edit]

Is anyone at Jeep aware that a "renegade" is a person who reneges, that is, goes back on a promise? Is it a good idea to name a vehicle after such a disreputable character?! Arrivisto (talk) 18:16, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not as bad as [AMC] "Matador" (killer) or [Yamaha] "Virago" (violent, bad-tempered woman)!Santamoly (talk) 07:53, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
People who buy these ridiculous vehicles like to think of themseves as rebellious outlaws, particularly in the US, so the name is probably a good choice for that market. It may not translate well in languages other than English though. --Ef80 (talk) 20:52, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

RENEGADE GLOBAL SALES FIGURES INCORRECT[edit]

It does not take into account sales in South Africa.Vellies (talk) 15:50, 29 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Along those lines, the 2019 data for Turkey (which is 20-30 times lower than the previous years) corresponds solely to the data for January 2019. The article cited as a source (in Spanish) and detailing how a crisis and new tax reduced by around 50% the sales of new vehicles in Turkey, includes the data only for the first month of the year.
I know right. The user that added these sales figures doesn't have the best track record, i kept seeing mistakes after mistakes. Andra Febrian (talk) 14:45, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
