Requested move 05 April 2016[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Move. !Votes are evenly split, but I find the arguments for the move stronger in general: this is a dab page, listing entries called "Jazz Hall of Fame". Dab pages should follow the more typical format of the listed titles, and every one of the entries uses caps. Cúchullain t/c 15:02, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jazz hall of fameJazz Hall of Fame – all of the subjects listed use this style – Martinevans123 (talk) 22:18, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink).  Philg88 talk 07:09, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Moved from WP:RMT

  • Oppose – That page refers to a general class of things called "Jazz hall of fame", as opposed to a specific "Jazz Hall of Fame". Not sure what purpose the capitalisation would serve, per WP:NCCAPS. RGloucester 22:27, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • No, the page does not refer to a class of things. It's a list of things called "Jazz Hall of Fame".  AjaxSmack  01:00, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose common noun, not proper name. It's entire valid (and a correct description of quite a number of musicians) to write, e.g., "an inductee into three jazz halls of fame".  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  10:32, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • Which would be relevant if this was an article, but it's not.  AjaxSmack  01:00, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per above. Jazzed about it. Randy Kryn 13:47, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nominator. The opposition would be correct if this was an article about jazz halls of fame but it's a disambiguation page and all of the entries are called "Jazz Hall of Fame". —  AjaxSmack  01:00, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support page is list of "Jazz Hall of Fame" entries. Spirit Ethanol (talk) 14:49, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
