Correction[edit]

I noticed that the article showed two different birthdates in the lede and Infobox. A new editor had just changed the date in the Infobox, but not the lede. I researched it and corrected the error in the lede. Activist (talk) 19:25, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Supplied details and links in response to derogatory edits[edit]

The subject of this article was entrusted with roles to repair and restore international and domestic communities that had been devastated by war (in Bosnia, up to a quarter-million dead and injured, over 10,000 raped, and in Talent, Oregon, with widespread infrastructure destruction of a third of the structures in the city. There was nothing "flowery" (the dismissive comment by another editor) about my description of the tasks of restoration the subject of this article encountered when she knowingly accepted these management positions. When you add content, the sources have to verify that content. It's that simple. Now you have added "Beginning at the end of 1995 she served as a reconstruction and program manager in Bosnia, over where 100,000 died and communities had been destroyed, and Kosovo," and supplied no source for her role. You have added a source for the Encyclopedia Britannica article on Radovan Karadžić. This is WP:SYNTH and WP:OR. Any sources about McLeod-Skinner's career history actually have to be about her. User_talk:Marquardtika, The original cite that I'd included for the job situation and the difficulties faced included info about the damages the community of Talent had endured as well and the dysfunction in the city government between elected representatives, executives/administrators and line staff employees. You mischaracterized my descriptor as "flowery," with what seems to be an intentionally dismissive term. Had you read that citation I don't know how you could have misunderstood it and why you would have used such a term. The Oxford dictionary, i.e., definition of the word is: "(of a style of speech or writing) full of elaborate or literary words and phrases. 'flowery language'." The other words you removed were "war-devastated" I'd used in reference to the situation in Bosnia and Kosovo. I Wikilinked the wars in both countries. The Bosnian war was seen as the worst in Europe in terms of ethnic violence and infrastructure destruction in Europe, subsequent to the end of World War II. In it women were deliberately targeted for sexual assaults as an intentional tactic in the conflict. A single event, the Srebrenica massacre, saw the murder of over 8,000 Bosniak men and boys in July 1995. Kosovo suffered from similar ethnic discord and an active and escalating insurgency began there in 1995. The referenced story in the Medford paper makes the comparison if you had read it, "For the recovery, McLeod-Skinner brings experience from her work in another disaster zone. From 1996 to 1998 she was a reconstruction and program manager in Bosnia and Kosovo." Now you've tried to get the entire article removed by initiating your AFD, which effort was rejected. I thought my edit had been posted, but apparently, it hadn't. My connection goes down frequently and that seems to have happened. See MOS:FLOWERY. You added text that said "She served as a construction and program manager in war-devastated Kosovo and Bosnia in 1995-1996, and led a Lutheran services organization from 2000 through 2002" as well as "She became the interim City Manager of Talent, Oregon in 2020, hired after a devastating forest fire that destroyed over 700 homes, in a city hampered with a dysfunctional local government." I edited that content to remove unnecessary adjectives that did not appear in the source material, such as "war-devastated", "devastating", and "dysfunctional". As they are both a reliable source, and the subject matter experts on Oregon electoral politics it's time to edit this article from "is a candidate" to "was a candidate" -- etc.

Which I will leave for someone else to do, assuming there is consensus on it.
