Stop the Edit war[edit]

Nate Robinson and David Lee are role players that is a fact - stop sugarcoating. The Knicks made the playoffs a year after Patrick Ewing was traded, attributing their decline or saying that "many" attribute their decline to Ewing's departure is faulty logic and opens a pandora's box. What about Jeff Van Gundy's departure? Some could say that marked the decline of the Knicks if one is going to pin their decline on Ewing leaving than where does it end? What's wrong with the statement following the SI prediction about the Knicks saying they've underperformed? How are cited and substantiated sources straight from the horse's mouth hearsay? Stop deleting pertinent and true information just because it does not fit your rosey perception. Other wise I will report this to wikipedia.

Stop Defaming this Person[edit]

You continue to defame James Dolan with biased, unsubstantiated statements that border on defamation. Further, this kind of coverage of minor transactions of a basketball team he manages are receiving overemphasized coverage on his biography. This whole page and your slanderous comments will be reported to Wikipedia. Clarification[edit]

What exactly was slanderous? The fact that the team has "underperformed" immediately after a statement that says Sports Illustrated ranked their talent base 6th best in the preseason? Sorry but that is a fact. If that's irrelevant to a biography so is the entire statement regarding the Sports Illustrated poll. The Media policies were in fact Dolan's own doing and since they shed insight into his personality one would think that they would be relevant and not "overemphasized" for this kind of biography.

Unsubstantiated statements? They are not unsubstantiated when they are coming from 4 different news articles, and I emphasize hard news articles (not op-eds) with quotes from direct sources etc some of which include Dolan himself.

"In a recent Sports Illustrated players poll, he received the most votes as the worst owner in the NBA." Curious what are the grounds for deletion of that statement? It's okay to say SI ranked the Knicks 6th best based on talent (in an article about their owner) but an actual negative but true fact that is key to how this person is percieved is not relevant? You Are Performing a Hatchett Job, Not Adding to a Person's Bio[edit]

Dear 70.134.116.4,

No hard feelings, but the James Dolan biography page has been incessantly attacked over the last 6 months (at least) by Knick fans unhappy that their team is losing. A biography of any person should have unbiased and fair coverage of noteworthy information on their life. The information that you added to the page was a very biased, directed attack of negative information about James Dolan, most of which was not noteworthy.

The whole player transaction area should probably be removed. It is very arguable that it is noteworthy information about James Dolan. If it stays, then both positive and negative information should be provided. Right now, information about Alan Houston's contract is countered by information about transactions of players who have given the Knicks more valued talent than they had 5 years ago. In general, a person's biography shouldn't have information that swings wildly based on whether a team they manage has a winning streak or a losing streak, or a winning/losing season, or sustains an injury to a key player that was acquired while they were the owner.

I am not sure what your beef with James Dolan is, besides the fact that the Knicks are losing and therefore you don't like him. Is it because he has spent too much money on the Knicks? Most fans consider that a good thing for an owner to do. Do you want him to spend less? Be less interested in the team? Is it because he has hired basketball experts and let them run things? Again, most fans prefer owners to be that way. George Steinbrenner was lambasted in the eighties for meddling too much. Is it because you feel Dolan has spent foolishly? GM's and owners of most teams in major markets who know that money makes money have made many more expensive gambles and mistakes than the Knicks have, including Brian Cashman of the NY Yankees and Omar Minaya of the Mets.

Large removal of text and the policy on biographies[edit]

A large portion of the text, mostly negative, appeared to have no source cited. Per Wikipedia's policy on biographies of living people this has been removed. No, because it's unverifiable for readers. In biography articles Wikipedia only includes private information such as full birth names and birth dates that have been widely published in reliable sources.
