I believe that Record Round-up (at the end of the following text) should read RECORD ROUNDABOUT -- and that Mr Jackson's program for Radio Luxembourg was called Record Round-up, not his BBC show.

Jack Jackson (British radio) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search

Jack Jackson (b. Horsley, Derbyshire, England, 20 February 1906 – 15 January 1978) was a British trumpeter and bandleader who became a highly influential radio disc jockey.

He started as a trumpeter in the swing bands of Bert Ambrose, Jack Hylton and Jack Payne, before forming his own band in 1933. By 1939, the band was resident at the Dorchester Hotel in London, and had a regular radio show on Radio Luxembourg.

After the war he decided not to reform his band, and turned to compering on the BBC Light Programme in such shows as "Record Round-Up". 24.16.184.171 (talk) 05:35, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Note by SWG on 23rd October 2011.  The above is not so.   I used to  listen every week to the BBC show entitled Jack Jackson's Record Roundup.  I have managed to capture over the years several of the tracks I first heard on that show -  Sons of the Pioneers, Nellie Lutcher , etc.    End of note by SWG  — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.147.136.18 (talk) 10:59, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

Jack presented programs featuring Decca records and associated labels on Luxembourg in the 1960s when most programming on the station was paid for in blocks by major record labels and recorded on tape in London. (86.141.138.147 (talk) 01:06, 24 December 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Jack Jackson (British radio)Jack Jackson (radio personality) – Subject, himself, cannot be described as being "British radio". —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 15:36, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Roman Spinner: Why request a discussion for the move when you can move it yourself per WP:BOLD? Do you expect any disputes? — Zawl 16:46, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Zawl: I considered simply moving it but, upon discovering that this entry was created nearly 11 years ago, on 10 October 2006, with the text going through 53 intermediate revisions by 35 users, I decided to leave a talk page historical record of the previous qualifier and while, as you noted, I do not expect any disputes, since none of those 35 users considered it worth their time to make a point of it, a (brief) mention of an 11-year disambiguation should, perhaps, exist for its own sake. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 17:47, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
