Read and Debussy's "Marche écossaise sur un théme Populaire”[edit]

According to Marie Rolf in the summer-fall 2012 issue of the Musical Quarterly [1] Read was the "General Reid" who engaged Debussy to write his "Marche écossaise sur un théme Populaire” Program notes and other references routinely misspell his name, which may be one reason why the connection has been missed. Read is said to have asked for a setting of a march tune associated with the Ross clan, of which he claimed to be a descendant. Thedogesl (talk) 19:37, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
