Birthday[edit]

Isabel's death certificate at findadeath.com lists her birthday as August 17. Wikipedia, as well as IMDB list the day as August 29. So, my question : can a legal document contain false information? Which is the correct day?

Weezie/Ousie[edit]

Documentary Narration[edit]

I'm trying to find information about a documentary on the history of African-Americans that she narrated. I saw it on PBS circa 1988 or '89. It was made probably in the early or mid-'80s. Can anyone supply any info, especially the title? CFLeon (talk) 10:46, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pardon the interruption[edit]

In the article, she was nominated for an Emmy for "First Female African-American" for a hit TV series(in Comedy or otherwise)? I remember that GAIL FISHER, of the detective drama series "MANNIX", NICHELE NICHOLS of "STAR TREK", and DIANE CARROL in JULIA. How was it that the awards commision missed these three women, unless 1)-Isabel's award was for "First A.A. female in hit comedy". Or, 2)-The emmy Awards weren't inauguarated until after 1972A.D. Well, looking at the "Emmy Award" article gives the information that the Emmys started as annual awards in 1949. The article states that she was the first African-American to

a) WIN the award for b) LEADING Actress c) in a COMEDY. Nichols and Fisher don't qualify because they were supporting roles, not leads, and their shows weren't comedies. I don't know why Julia was skipped, but personally I never thought it was funny (it was billed as a comedy as I recall) and was just a Lucy/Doris Day clone.
