SecWar[edit]

At the time of Gettysburg, the Secretary of War was Edwin Stanton. Who recommended against parole - Stanton or Cameron? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wat_Tyler (talkcontribs) 21:53, August 21, 2006.

The article is pretty clear: " ... former U.S. Secretary of War Simon Cameron recommended against it..." Hal Jespersen 14:11, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gettysburg quote[edit]

"As no movement seemed immediate, I rode off to our left, north of the town, to reconnoitre, and noticed conspicuously the wooded hill northeast of Gettysburg (Culp's)..." Isn't Culp's Hill southeast of Gettsburg? I assume this was an error in the original quote. Should it be corrected with brackets? -Cwenger (talk) 02:18, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Culp's is southeast of the central town of Gettysburg. Whether it is worth correcting this historical account is a matter of opinion. Hal Jespersen (talk) 15:24, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
