The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Not moved, and removing the RFC tag from the bottom section per WP:FORUMSHOP. RM is the correct venue for discussing page moves, and this one has consensus not to move.  — Amakuru (talk) 20:09, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Andrei RaduIonuț Radu – It seem not controversial that the WP:common name of the footballer in Latin script is "Ionuț Radu" (or Ionut Radu) (Romanian source, Inter official site), but i am not sure the goalkeeper is the WP:primary topic or not, despite recent deletion of Ionuț Radu (footballer, born 1991) due to WP:PROD. According to soccerway, there is another "Ionuț Radu", Ionuț Radu, (footballer born 1993) [1] and Ionuț Radu, (footballer born 1988) [2]

The version "Andrei Radu" is sometimes used but not sure it is error or not (Inter official site, 2017) Matthew_hk tc 10:18, 17 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting.Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 12:55, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also Andrei Radu (footballer, born 1996) may need to move back to Andrei Radu. Matthew_hk tc 10:25, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@GiantSnowman: it is a primary source. For secondary source, La Gazzetta used "Ionut" [3] [4] and see above Romanian secondary source. Also it was a c&p move which the original article title was Ionuț Radu (footballer, born 1997), but cut by Cristina neagu.
For more primary source, Romanian FA used Ionuț Radu , UEFA.com used Ionuț Radu Matthew_hk tc 10:45, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
FRF and the Romanian press are wrongly picturing him as Ionut in my opinion. Anyway, GianSnowman if you are admin please delete https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ionu%C8%9B_Radu_(footballer,_born_1997)&redirect=no — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cristina neagu (talkcontribs) 2018-09-17T12:47:22 (UTC)
  • Oppose - There is no more 2 players Ionut Radu, the other guy was deleted because he didn't meet notability. Matthew, he is called Andrei Radu by the official site of Genoa. His Facebook is also Andrei Radu. The media wrongly makes him Ionut. He is Andrei Ionut Radu of course. If you want to make him Ionut instead of Andrei, make him but use Ionut Radu not Ionut Radu born 1997 because on Wikipedia there is only 1 Ionut Radu right now. @Cristina neagu: So, Romanian FA is wrong, UEFA is wrong Inter Milan is wrong, Romanian media and Italian media is wrong in your opinion.
For facebook, unless there is a "tick" account for the goalkeeper, they are junk. A "tick" (verified) profile qualifies as primary source and WP:Article titles states common name are more preferred than WP:official name.
If you refer to this facebook fans page, https://www.facebook.com/Andrei-Radu-109511673212833/, it is NOT verified (no tick). Matthew_hk tc 13:00, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
UEFA got it from FRF and probably it was spelled as Ionut Andrei Radu but in fact it's very important what has the site of Genoa. But like I have said, do whatever you want. It's just an opinion. I have been trying to ease our work on Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cristina neagu (talkcontribs) 2018-09-17T13:06:10 (UTC)
It increase work load by fixing internal link of your WP:cut and paste move (as many article was linked to "Andrei Radu" the defender not "Ionuț Andrei Radu" the goalkeeper) and NOT signing talk page.
A side note. According to https://www.tuttocalciatori.net/Radu_Ionut_Florin Ionuț Radu (footballer, born 1991) had played in Serie C1, thus passing WP:NSPORTS, but it seem fails WP:GNG (NSPORTS is a supplementary to WP:N) Matthew_hk tc 13:51, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Second sidenote, Andrei Radu the defender seem the true WP:primary topic of that article title, see news article on the defender and the goalkeeper, digisport use Andrei for the defender and Ionuţ for the goalkeeper. Matthew_hk tc 19:42, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Relisting comment It would be very easy to close this now as not moved. I see some confusion among sources on what the correct name is, and to avoid continued problems it is best to resolve the issue fully now. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 12:57, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If you count voting, it is not moved. But for source, only two primary sources (Genoa and Inter Milan) called the goalkeeper "Andrei", all other source use Ionuț including aforementioned Inter Milan (www.inter.it) in later article. All secondary source use "Ionuț" for the goalkeeper (the subject of this wiki article). Matthew_hk tc 14:17, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request for comment[edit]

Request for comment for the proper WP:article title of Romanian footballer (goalkeeper) Andrei Ionuț Radu / Ionuț Andrei Radu with conflicted source on supporting "Ionuț Radu" or "Andrei Radu". Matthew_hk tc 23:35, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lede[edit]

RFc for retaining previous common name Ionut of the footballer as well as it's citation in lead or not , despite the footballer prefered Andrei in his Instagram and change of usage of his common name in secondary sources since September 2018. Matthew hk (talk) 02:39, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I can confirm his name is Andrei Radu since I am Romanian. Or at least he's presenting himself this way on TV. Secondly, his personal Instagram and Facebook accounts are "Andrei Radu". Regards, Cris Cristina neagu (talk) 03:45, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Withdrew RFC due to the "edit summary" of Cristina neagu "Ok, keep them then but they do look like shit, and we shall reverse them since the article is Andrei (an advice would be to remove some of them, 2 per every first name or so". Matthew hk (talk) 04:00, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Name suggestion[edit]

I believe the article should contain the full "Ionut Andrei Radu" or "Andrei Ionut Radu" (not sure which is the correct form). Andrei Radu or Ionut Radu can both be misleading, as media refers to him by the way they prefer. His accounts display "Andrei Radu" though.8Dodo8 (talk · contribs) 12:48, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Normally restarting WP:RM requires some times. It seems he preferred Andrei only, while the media, due to namesake or whatever reason, referred him as Ionut . However, it seem the secondary source had changes back to Andrei since September 2018, it seem the WP:article title should be fine. It may cause more problem when deciding Andrei or Ionut first when using full name in WP:article title, as some source just did not have the full name, while some use Andrei-Ionut. Mentioned in the lede and infobox already more than sufficient. Matthew hk (talk) 13:02, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Despite the Romania FA still refer the goalkeeper as " Ionuț Radu" only...in the match in November 2018 Matthew hk (talk) 11:42, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
