Macbeth[edit]

Best not to forget that this was one of many settings in Macbeth. --D-Day I'm all ears How can I improve? 21:02, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Prison[edit]

According to the Scottish Prison Service website it included a prison until 1902. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 212.219.203.252 (talk) 12:34, 8 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

It would be good information to add to the article. ICE77 (talk) 00:48, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of clarity/information[edit]

1. "A succession of castles has stood on this site since 1057".

It would be nice to add a little more information.

2. "The castle was occupied during the Raid on Ross in 1491".

It would be good to expand at least a little bit of it. A singled sentence lets everything suspended.

3. "In 1548 another castle with tower was completed by George Gordon, 4th Earl of Huntly (1514–1562)".

The castle is referred to as "another castle" so does it mean it was not Inverness Castle? If it was Inverness Castle then was the castle destroyed since the 1836 structure is currently there?

4. "George Buchanan states, that when the unfortunate princess went to Inverness in 1562 and found the gates of the castle shut against her".

Mary became queen in 1543 so why does the text say princess? It does not sound correct.

5. "There were later sieges of Inverness in 1562, 1649, 1650, 1689, 1715 and 1746".

It would be nice to elaborate a little bit on this and tell a little more.

Usage as Inverness Sheriff Court[edit]

As of the 30th March 2020 Inverness Castle is no longer being used by the Scottish Courts and Tribunals service. The Inverness Justice Centre has taken over in this capacity[1][2] so I'm going to edit the article to that effect. I'm new to editing so hopefully it will appear correctly!
