Entry for U.S. Proxy Server removed[edit]

I just removed the entry for U.S. Proxy Server from the table of circumvention software. The entry was originally added by User:US.ProxyServer at 19:43, 12 April 2012‎. This seems more like a service than a software tool, but the table is for tools. I am uncomfortable with an addition by someone that seems to be promoting their own service. I'd feel better if U.S. Proxy Server had been reviewed/evaluated by an independent third party as most or all of the other items in the table have been. -Jeff Ogden (W163) (talk) 03:41, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Possible conflict of interest for BarbaTunnel?[edit]

At 18:13 on 27 May 2013 User:BarbaCoder added a new entry for BarbaTunnel. I am concerned that BarbaCoder may be so closely related to the software as to constitute a conflict of interest. What do others think? I'd feel better if there were a separate Wikipedia article on BarbaTunnel or if there were a third-party reference or review of BarbaTunnel. --Jeff Ogden (W163) (talk) 02:31, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am BarbaCoder, yes this is my working MIT project and released for 2 years, I thought i can add it to Internet censorship circumvention. I didn't know the project owner don't have permission to write in relate wikipedia page. BarbaCoder (talk) 10:25, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the COI template from the article and left the entry for Barbara Tunnel in the table. It would be better to have reliable, third-party, published sources for this and many other entries on the list, but since other editors don't seem to be concerned about Barbara Tunnel, it seems OK to leave it, at least for now. --Jeff Ogden (W163) (talk) 18:43, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Different techniques and resources..." does not go on to say what they are different from. "Different" needs to be replaced by "Various" here.

Countrylist[edit]

Hi guys, I was just browsing a little bit within this topic and to me it seems that many countries around the world are affected by censorship, specially since I travel here in Asia Pacific Region. Therefore I would kindly ask if it would make sense to add links to the specific countries, where such kind of circumventions are advised/required. I think most of the articles within the category Internet_censorship_<countryname> would qualify. Any thoughts/comments on this?

Alternative platforms[edit]

I believe Bitchute should be added as an alternative platform. Unfortunately that word is filtered by Wikipedia. Bitchute has become the de-facto Youtube alternative and has a large user base. Despite Bitchute accepting all political beliefs, people who tend to get censored more are more likely to use the site. 1.158.174.54 (talk) 06:58, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
