James[edit]

In which novel was his first name revealed? 91.105.55.219 22:21, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

'For obvious reasons'[edit]

'In the Japanese ... renamed Inspector Sharp, for obvious reasons'. What are these 'obvious reasons'? This really should be made clearer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.22.8.106 (talk) 15:32, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"James Harold Japp"[edit]

I notice that the "Harold" was added by an editor back in April '09 on the grounds that "middle name confirmed in 'The Chocolate Box'". I've just re-read "The Chocolate Box" (for the first time in some years) and Japp isn't even mentioned, let alone his middle name. Removed accordingly. Little man[edit]

Philip Jackson is very succesful in Agatha Christie's Poirot series. However there is one problem. Japp is introduced in the The Mysterious Affair at Styles. Referring to Japp, Poirot asks "Do you know who that little man is ?". Well, Jackson is a tall man and he fails to match the little-man description.
