Merger proposal[edit]

It has been proposed that this article be merged with Yngvi.

Weak Oppose: We do not see any evidence that these are the same entity, even though they may be similar. Please compare their evolution to the evolution of Coyote and Raven as Trickster in the various native American cultures. American cultures have a much broader linuistic gap and longer evolutionary period so naturally their changes are more obvious, especially after translation to English. The germanic protolanguage has diverged relatively recently into a double handful of directions. German, Anglo-Saxon, Low German, Icelandic, Danish, Norwegian, Dutch to give a few examples are all very similar languages more so than their cultures. So I would oppose the merger unless someone can cite specific references for this being the same god in all the major traditions. Trilobitealive (talk) 16:00, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
