Neologism/sources[edit]

I removed the {{unsourced}} template from the History section. Every claim there was properly cited except the following one. A section which is entirely sourced except for one sentence doesn't need {{unsourced}} ...

The largest portion of the population consists of Dutch persons of pure and partial Indonesian descent who immigrated in the 1970s. A number of Chinese Indonesians entered the country after the fall of Suharto and the ensuing Jakarta riots of May 1998.

We can leave it here on the talk page until we find sources for it.

As for the claim that the title is a neologism --- it appears to have been used as far back as 1999 [1] and appears widely in government and media sources , e.g. [2][3][4]. I don't have any particular objection to moving it to something that's descriptive and broader in scope, like "Indonesians in Australia", but I don't really think it's necessary. cab (talk) 11:35, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

as per Wikipedia:Avoid neologisms The use of neologisms should be avoided in Wikipedia articles because they are not well understood, are not clearly definable, and will have different meanings to different people this article combines those of indonesian decent and those born in indonesia not those who are Indonesian and Australian citizens.
