The content for this article appears to have originated as part of the educational related course work associated with a Wiki Ed supported course run by the University of Alberta about Colonialism and the Criminal Justice System that ran in late 2020. However, producing this Wikipedia article was not a course assignment and contributing this article to Wikipedia appears to have been done on the student's own initiative and research. On its own, this article makes for interesting reading and draws in a number of factors specific to the Canadian phenomenon of the over-representation of its indigenous people within the Canadian criminal justice system. However, it lacks a wider global context of the over-representation of various minority groups that are over-represented in various countries within each of those countries criminal justice systems. So, I wonder if there is a wider global issue here that Wikipedia should be writing about that draws together the experiences of indigenous people world-wide and how various colonial societies have treated them? The problems outlined in this article have parallels in the United States, Europe, Australasia, and other colonial societies, so I wonder if this is an active area of research world-wide, and if so, what is a good, or better name for it than the current cumbersome article title. - 203.96.84.33 (talk) 02:47, 27 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
