I would like to say that if we make an article of Merchantile Law it would be very useful. It can cover all the topics of Merchantile law such as Indian Contract Act, Indian Sale of Goods Act and Indian Partnership Act. Kindly take a note of it. 10:37 23 December 2014

Please help out by expanding anything that you know. This must have been a tremendous piece of work - it sounds like it codified the whole common law as it then stood. And if it is still in force today, with amendments, that is even more incredible. Wik idea 21:42, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This Act may be called be the Indian Contract Act, 1872. It extends to the whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir; and it shall come into force on the first day of September, 1872. What cases are there decided under the Act? Could one pick, say 10 or 20 most important decisions? Do contract issues go to the Supreme Court in India, or is it dealt with by the state courts? Wik idea 13:21, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Contract cases are instituted at the lowest civil courts in India, and then the appeal process can reach the High Court of the concerned state and can finally be heard in the Supreme Court. Amartyabag ^TALK2ME 18:06, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Logically, it's right to maintain two separate articles, because one should be about the Act itself, and the other should be about the whole topic - including all the case law.
