Kiriyathil Nairs were prominent in Malabar. But, the fact is that they are found only in Malabar. Where as, Illathu Nirs were considered prominent among the Nair hierarchy of Travancore and adjoining areas. If you have not travelled to Travancore, you may not know this reality. But these have all become old tales, as subcaste distinction is irrelevant now. Som123 (talk) 06:27, 24 August 2009 (UTC)som123[reply]

The region where both Kiriyathil and illathil nairs mostly present is perhaps the central kerala, ie old kochi state, in Ernakulam and Trichur districts of present kerala. This area has an influence of both Malabar and Travancore and here Kiriyathil nairs had a slight edge until 60s, but now all are the same.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.172.11.13 (talk) 07:58, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. In this article, it is said that higher ranking brahmins are absent in south Travancore. However, there are a few Thanthri Malayali brahmin families in south Travancore also. Thanthris were, most of the times, drawn from higher ranking Malayali brahmins whatever their surname may be(Namboodiri, Potti or Bhattathiri).Or atleast, such brahmins will have enough proficiency in Vedic studies.

So please make necessary editions. It may be true that the no. of Malayali brahmin families is very small in south Travancore area at present or in past. That doesn't mean that they are absent completely in that region.Thank you.Bye.Specialadd (talk) 12:44, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is no details available for Illathu Nair in Wiki, this article helps people to understand about the different group existed in Nair group. These days Nairs are generalized as sudra category, its very important to awareness to public that Nair community had both Kshatriya and Sudra group existed in this community same like Singh community where Kshatriya, Bhrahmin, Sudra and Sikh exist in the group. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arunkrishnant (talkcontribs) 18:52, 25 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
