Original manga[edit]

When will someone make a good article about the manga? If you go to the japanese wikipedia I think there's a good article about it. Anybody wants to translate? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.1.118.102 (talk) 22:30, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No subject[edit]

The "Trivia" part of the article is a direct copy from IMBD (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0296042/trivia). I think it shoud be removed due to copyright issues.

The synopsis of the film ends without an explanation of what happens. It is incomplete, just cut off mid-sentence.

Merge the Kakihara article, definitely, and redirect. Budgiekiller 13:13, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Original[edit]

The manga came out first. ANyone wants to write an article about it?--sin-man 10:27, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not really in a position to but I suspect the manga should go here and the film part goes to Ichi the Killer (film) - see what was done with Battle Royale and Uzumaki as an example. (Emperor 04:01, 24 March 2007 (UTC))[reply]

3 million yen?[edit]

I'm quite sure it was 300 million yen that Anjo had. BrainRotMenacer 09:12, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was, anjo had 300 mil yen, but elsewhere in the movie there was talk about paying people 3 mil yen.--Soyweiser 22:25, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can we establish how much 300million yen is worth... my racisim says £100 but i suspect im wrong... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.145.58.58 (talk) 01:03, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Non english links[edit]

Why? What do they add? --Soyweiser 22:25, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ending[edit]

I'm fairly certain the last bit of the plot description is completely wrong. It looked to me like the person following the kids was the kid from the movie. And the guy hanging in the tree was that Jijii fellow. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.2.254.93 (talk) 09:14, 3 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Does any one know for sure? i just saw the movie and i can't figure it out. does anyone know where we could go to add that aprt of the article? as of right now it's not even there any more...Killemall22 (talk) 03:48, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The ending has been completely wrong for such a long time, I thought it was time to fix it. When Jijii is examining Kakihara's body and notices the lack of a scar that Ichi would leave, there's a quick cut in the movie to show that Ichi is still lying on the ground being kicked by Takeshi. This is why Jijii is shocked. Earlier on in the movie, Takeshi is shown trying to domesticate a crow. At the very end, before the boy turns around, a crow flies past him. Yeah, that's not Ichi. It's absurd that someone has interpreted it as being Ichi and no-one has fixed it. That's Takeshi, not Ichi. Watch the movie again. Takeshi, now older, took revenge on Jijii, after probably kicking Ichi to death at the roof. Probably, as it is not inconclusive. And hanging? That's not Ichi's modus operandi. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.114.47.187 (talk) 21:46, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ending is fixed. Watch the move again, and you will see that this is the true ending.74.243.4.185 (talk) 22:49, 19 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
"Takeshi's psychic abilities"? Are you sure of that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.36.56.126 (talk) 06:32, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is certain that Takeshi has mind control abilities. At the end of the movie, Takeshi forced both Kakihara and Jijii to believe that Ichi was still alive. Both Kakihara and Jijii thought that Ichi attacked Kakihara with a bladed boot, causing Kakihara to fall off of the roof. However, when Jijii looks at Kakihara's forehead, there is no injury. Jijii knows that Takeshi has mind control abilities, but didn't realize how good Takeshi was. Jijii had no idea, that he was being controlled until he saw that there was no injury on Kakihara's forehead. That's why he looked back up at the roof; he understood what was done to him, and was seriously afraid. Remember earlier, Jijii told Ichi that Kaneko (Takeshi's father) was Ichi's brother, in an attempt to keep Kaneko safe. Jijii knew that if Kaneko was killed by Ichi, Takeshi's powers would become apparent due to overwhelming emotions of anger and grief. Jijii wasn't fearfull for himself. Jijii simply wanted to keep Ichi alive, and feared that Takeshi would kill Ichi.74.243.4.221 (talk) 02:05, 21 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Where else is this psychic thing hinted at or referenced in the rest of the movie? There seems to be more rational explanations for the climax? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.246.150.118 (talk) 19:28, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but 74.243...’s change (this edit) seems wrong to me. Indeed, Ichi is psychologically manipulated by Jijii, but I couldn’t find any evidence that Takeshi has psychic abilities. 122.26.212.59 (talk) 12:01, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Kakihara right hand man[edit]

what is the name of the actor who plays Kakihara's right hand man? the old yakuza guy. --AlexOvShaolin 06:33, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paying attention would net you that info - character's name is Takayama and the actor who portrays him is Shun Sugata. --75.2.32.250 03:52, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

mouth widening[edit]

I just wanted to let everyone know that it never shows the actual mouth-widening in the movie, it shows him WITH his mouth widened, but never the actual act of him having it widened, if thats easy to understand. 69.149.223.220 17:52, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's incorrect. There are various cuts to the film, but the most popular, the Unrated cut, shows Kakihara's mouth drop open while sitting in a bathtub (after his death, in a flashback).Frosty976 (talk) 17:48, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Does this make sense?[edit]

"Many of Kakihara's compatriots, including Anjo's English, Cantonese, and Japanese speaking girlfriend Karen (Alien Sun), suspect that Anjo simply took the money and ran, but Kakihara is convinced the man is alive" so everyone thinks he's alive? so we don't need the but?

Soundtrack?[edit]

Didn't the "Boredoms" do the Soundtrack to this movie? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.162.193.239 (talk) 23:00, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hypnotizing Karen[edit]

The plot summary states: "...Jijii attempts to get better control over Ichi by having Karen seduce him, but the plan backfires and Karen is slaughtered." But it wasn't clear to me that was his intention. It seemed to me that Jijii wanted Ichi to kill Karen. 209.202.115.142 (talk) 16:37, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Film banning[edit]

"In January 2009, the Norwegian Media Authority learned of this incident and subsequently classified the film as "Rejected" and banned the film outright in Norway. [...] The film has been banned in Malaysia since the movie's release. It later caused controversy in Germany and the film was banned for distribution there, too. Private possession of the film remains legal."

I cannot find any evidence for this part of the article under Release. The best I can find are articles that simply state the movie was banned in Norway, Germany, and Malaysia. -- Primium (talk) 16:14, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
