Infobox[edit]

Should we use the active storm infobox or the regular one? For years, WPTC has used the active storm infobox for active storms with main article. However, Hurricanefan25 (talk · contribs) and Hurricanehink (talk · contribs) switched it to the regular one, only to be reverted by Cyclonebiskit (talk · contribs) and Keith Edkins (talk · contribs). Most recently, Hfan25 has restored the regular one, and instead of starting an edit war, I am being audacious and starting a discussion on the talk page. I am split on this issue myself. As I noted yesterday, I agree with the idea of the active storm infobox. It is kind of redundant to have the regular infobox and then have a Current Information section. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 16:24, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tropical cyclones#Current storm information section for those of you who haven't yet seen that discussion. Also, I'd suggest a parameter (is that what it's called?) in the normal hurricane infobox to link to the section. HurricaneFan25 16:42, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, I am aware of the discussion, but no consensus has been reached on the project talk page. YE Pacific Hurricane 16:45, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In which case, the regular infobox needs to be used...at least, until a consensus has been reached. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 16:49, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's been project policy to use the active one for active storms years, so why should we use the regular infobox until consensus has been reached?YE Pacific Hurricane
I'm talking about the one that we have been using...The one that Ophelia and Philippe have. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 17:16, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The currently active box should be used because the boxed used right now for Hilary's page does not really signify that Hilary is active despite the infobox saying "currently active" and does not tell of the current mph, gusts, etc. This box used to be on the Pacific typhoon pages and has now been changed to the currently active box, so why not use that currently active box for this page? It's possible. 69.235.0.213 (talk) 22:34, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
But the current mph, gusts, and whatnot aren't needed. When looking at it from an encyclopediac point of view, we should be saying what the storm has done in the past, not what it is currently doing. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 23:01, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
