Talk:Hunting with eagles

The name of this article seems backwards, like they are hunting the eagles (cf. fox hunting). Perhaps it should be moved to Hunting with eagles, as the opening text says. Rigadoun (talk) 16:32, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Meaning?[edit]

This sentence makes no sense and so I'm not able to correct it: "The Khitan extorted this kind of eagle from Jurchen but ended in revolt." How did the Khitan "extort" eagles from the Jurchen? What has this to do with revolting. Who revolted? Caeruleancentaur (talk) 13:43, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Propose Merger with falconry[edit]

No merge as the topics are sufficiently distinct and independently notable. Klbrain (talk) 11:04, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Falconry and Eagle Hunting are 2 different traditions from 2 different cultures. Although they seem similar it is culturally important to distinguish them. Falconers and Eagle Hunters are different due to the cultural meanings behind phrases and the partnership between the animal. I don't believe we should be piling traditions together just for the sake of it not being confused with the equivalent of fox hunting.

In this article Ross, M explains how this tradition is almost extinct. Not Falconry. Eagle Hunting. It is due to the differences in the cultural meaning and the bond between the Hunters.

This page should be merged with falconry, as "hunting with eagles" is a subset of falconry. Natg 19 (talk) 23:59, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, I dont think so, see Wolf hunting with dogs.--Việt Nam (talk) 16:49, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Further reading section[edit]

The further reading section lists a lot of articles by the same author that seem to cover very similar topics. It would be more helpful to only list a few overview or introductory articles, and to use the other articles to add information to the Wikipedia article and to provide inline links where appropriate.
