Links to other-language articles fixed[edit]

Page was referring to other-language articles in German and Swedish about another composer. This was a problem with the German-language article wrongly linking to this one (fixed). Bots had then added reciprocal links. --DerHerrMigo

Draft deferments?[edit]

When i was in college, our organ teacher said that during the course of the war Distler had applied for several deferments from being drafted; each time thinking it would not be approved and yet, each time, it was.

And (here's the too-dramatic-to-be-true part) right after he killed himself, sure that no more deferments would be granted, yet another deferment arrived in the mail.

Not exactly. He committed suicide shortly after receiving notice that indeed he was going to have military service. The destruction of Lübeck and the overwhelming amount of work he was engaged in severely effected Distler, who had an already anxious disposition. Either way the tragedy is enormous to music.
