He was also appear in Wetten, dass..? in 2011. Can this be added? -- LAW CSI (talk) 20:33, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Error

As this page is semi-protected, I can't change the bloody thing myself.

Someone who has access should check out the part of Laurie's biography [his film career] wherein it is stated that he is slated to play the main antagonist in the remake of Robocop. There's a word spelled wrong. Could someone please fix it? It's annoying the heck out of me.

Order of Information

In the first section, 'Early Life and Education', it would seem to me that the information isnot ordered in the best possible way. First we are told he 'abandoned rowing' in 1981, and only then we are told of his remarkablle rowing achievements, Eg: Representing the UK at junior level and being of approximately Olympic standard. Shouldn't this be re-ordered? I tried to do it but it wouldn't let me! Love Hugh's work, particularly his comedy stuff - Absolute class: As is Fry, Atkinson, Monty Python, Curtis and Elton.. the whole damn bunch :)

Divide filmography and TV appearances

Is it possible to divide Hugh Laurie's filmography from his TV show appearances? The list is starting to get very difficult to read. Crazy Eddy (talk) 20:00, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

Goofy Singing Voice

Why is there no information about his intentional goofy voice he uses for singing? He said he doesn't want to sound pleasant or mature when singing. Also, a description of just how unpleasant he sounds would also be appropriate. The swallowing repetitive "wild honey" nonsense is more than notable enough for inclusion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.194.62.140 (talk) 23:34, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Error: Golden Globes for Hugh Laurie

Laurie was awarded two consecutive Golden Globes, in 2006 and 2007. He could not receive a GG in 2005, as is stated in the article, because the ceremonies take place in January and are related to the previous year. House M.D. first aired in November 2004 and therefore could not qualify for the 2005 Golden Globes. It is a well-known fact that Laurie was snubbed in 2006 Emmy nominations, but is was somewhat compensated with the first Golden Globe he received that year. I tried to amend the article but it keeps returning to its current state. The dates of the Golden Globe wins and nominations should read as follows: 2006 Winner, 2007 Winner, 2008 Nominated, 2009 Nominated, 2010 Nominated, 2011 Nominated. There were six nominations in all, from 2006 to 2011. Please edit the article accordingly. Kotofyr (talk) 11:22, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

Body of Work

There is no mention of Laurie's work on the radio program "Saturday Night Fry", even though there is a Wikipedia page dedicated to it. [1]

SOUND SPELLINGS

With Hugh and Laurie being common first and last names, do you really think people EVER have a hard time pronouncing them? Really, since when did we all become idiots to you? Hugh Downs, Piper Laurie, I think we know without being talked down to.--24.186.96.236 (talk) 19:15, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

New drama Chance

It was announced quite officially that Hugh Laurie will star in a new TV series Chance, but the mention added to the list of his roles was removed. Why is that? The news was confirmed by Mr. Laurie's agent, and one of the producers/directors of the new show. Isn't that enough verification? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.39.55.84 (talk) 15:15, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

University degree

The degree for which Laurie studied at Cambridge is the Archaeology and Anthropology BA Hons Tripos. In the first year he studied seven modules from a choice of eight: two archaeology, two physical anthropology, two social anthropology and two sociology. He took his Part 1 exams at the end of the first year. Then he decided which subject he was going to specialise in - he could choose only one of the four, and would study that exclusively, and nothing else, for the next two years. Laurie chose social anthropology. At the end of his second year at university he took his Prelim exams; at the end of his third and final year he would have taken his Part Two exams, had he finished the course. Only the results of the Part Two exams count for the final degree result. So Laurie was studying for a BA Hons degree in Archaeology and Anthropology, specialising in Social Anthropology. I did the same course '82-'85. 86.134.50.45 (talk) 08:52, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

I am not familiar with English/British university degrees. So DID he get a degree or not?

Why the sudden increase in the number of children?

I noticed the imformation on Hugh Laurie page was changed to state he has four children. As far as everyone knows, he has three. Was there something we all missed? Please correct the number. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kotofyr (talkcontribs) 10:34, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Nationality

MarnetteD

I'm not missing anything about the English language am I? By the definition of the word "Nationality", you cannot have English Nationality because England is not a sovereign state; it is a constituent country of the United Kingdom. However, a person's national identity can be English because England is still a country. If this is what is being referenced, the use of the word nationality is misleading. Its like describing someone from Texas as having Texan Nationality because Texas was once an independent country but is now a state of the USA.

I would like to cite Wikipedia's article on Nationality as my reasoning for the change I made to British nationality as it references a state, in the sense of one that is ultimately sovereign.

I'm not to big to admit if I'm wrong, I would just like clarification of your reasoning to further my own knowledge and editing ability. I feel the summaries of editing do not allow for adequate reasoning. I would just like to understand the reasoning to the fullest and to understand where a misinterpretation of mine may have occurred on account of myself being Dyslexic.

Laurie's early life - relationship with His mother

I've tried to add a reference (as a ref) that reflects Laurie's later and somewhat wider (and to my mind, clearly conciliated) perspective on the subject, as transcribed by myself from a conversation that took place on the BBC Radio show "Desert Islands Discs" of June 28, 2013 (Laurie's 2nd visit on that radio program), along with a link to the audio recording of the program, as available on the BBC website.

That edit was quickly deleted (on the ground that "the previous version is correct" - whatever that means on such regard), though my edit seems perfectly relevant and legitimate (especially when the existing early in time quotes on the subject can not be judged in context, as the James Lipton show it originated from is not available on the web).

It's not my habit to go into Wikipedia's editing wars, but I do feel the elaboration I've added is required (and, in a way, doing some more justice to both the mother and son personas, as reflected from that paragraph). Hence why I took the trouble of writing this note in the talk page, should someone be interested in re-considering its deletion and/or interested in the information itself. The link is: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b02y0wn6 (the subject is communed by Laurie and his host at about 14:45). Michal. --93.172.40.70 (talk) 13:13, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

Hugh Laurie & Stephen Fry were on the "James Randi TV show"

Hugh Laurie & Stephen Fry were on the "James Randi TV show". James Randi is a renowned stage magician turned scientific skeptic of the paranormal. His show would investigate and debunk paranormal, occult, and supernatural claims. Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie were on an episode where a British Astrologer name Jonathan tried to use Astrology to learn Hugh Laurie's personal characteristics. Hugh was hidden in the crowd and determined that the astrologer was wrong for most of his findings. Stephen Fry said the Astrologers finding's were more similar to his personality then Hugh's.

World of Jeeves and Wooster album

Should the Album section contain "The World of Jeeves and Wooster" (1992, Anne Dudley) which features Laurie on vocals on several tracks, and piano on one or two? For example, singing Minnie the Moocher and Nagasaki. Discogs link Andrew Oakley (talk) 20:04, 17 November 2019 (UTC)

Writings

He's been working on a screenplay for his novel for 15 years? A sequel was scheduled to appear but hasn't in 10 years because all indications are that he's not writing it? Why are these unsourced and irrelevant tidbits still in this article?
