"alumnus of three thousand"[edit]

The phrase alumnus of three thousand is simply not idiomatic English. An alumnus is a single graduate. Nor is the connection with the following sentence clear. The source, Meek's obituary, reads as follows:

“Prof,” as he was affectionately known by the School's three thousand alumni, interested Ellsworth M. Statler, America's foremost hotelman of the 1920s, in giving financial support for the establishment of Statler Hall, a $10 million complex devoted to the professional training of future hotel executives.

First, this means that the description foremost hotel man is excessively close copying of the source material (in addition to being unencyclopedically vague). Second, it implies that it was not the three thousand alumni that "interested" Statler, but rather Meek himself. XOR'easter (talk) 19:22, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite[edit]

I think the notability case is met, and the process of quickfailing this when it was up for GA review was irritating enough that I want to keep the article alive out of spite. So, I wrote a stub from scratch. XOR'easter (talk) 17:20, 3 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
