Current events POV[edit]

This article in its current version reads like a PoV rant against the elected representatives of the place. It appears uncyclopedic and needs to be cleaned up. --Gurubrahma 16:40, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:INDIA Banner/Madhya Pradesh workgroup Addition[edit]

{{WP India}} with Madhya Pradesh workgroup parameters was added to this article talk page because the article falls under Category:Madhya Pradesh or one of its subcategories. Should you feel this addition is inappropriate , please undo my changes and update/remove the irrelavent categories to the article -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - 12:40, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 5 February 2023[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: not moved. Consensus is that Hoshangabad remains the WP:COMMONNAME. The article Narmadapuram district was also briefly discussed, but is out of scope for this RM; however, a separate RM on that article's talk page would likely be productive. HoshangabadNarmadapuram – With all the recent attempts to move this page via unorthodox methods, it's time to establish a consensus; it seems the name of this city changed and a new WP:COMMONNAME is being established. But can anyone provide evidence that this is the case? Jalen Folf (talk) 19:52, 5 February 2023 (UTC) — Relisting.  ASUKITE 20:49, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Although Google searches are only a very crude indicator, Narmadapurm gives 1.52 million matches and Hoshangabad 16 million matches - I think this clearly shows that it is far too soon for a move as per WP:COMMONNAME - Arjayay (talk) 15:53, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly according to google it's shows that but on ground and on daily basis its been already adopted the new name. And as far as Google search is concern it shows more results because it has been officially name of the city before it so by that virtue, at any point of time it will shows the link and website which was published before the new name was given. So according to me, it should be changed as it is now become more comman on the ground. Curious man123 (talk) 05:49, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is a world-wide encyclopedia, and we need to use the WP:COMMONNAME world-wide, so that it is recognised by the majority of our readers. What the locals use is less relevant, as they know both names, and you haven't provided any sources whatsoever to back up your claim. - Arjayay (talk) 13:27, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose move. At this time, there is no evidence the common name has changed. O.N.R. (talk) 05:23, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per above. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:05, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose as per my rationale above - Arjayay (talk) 14:47, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hoshangabad district was recently moved to Narmadapuram district without any discussion - I suggest the two should use the same name - Arjayay (talk) 10:32, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that should be taken as a given. This RM should unify the two, unless a reason is given for them to differ. O.N.R. (talk) 15:29, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

HoshangabadNarmadapuram – only Google search can not be the criteria to prove WP:COMM, what actually in common use must be considered Anubhavklal (talk) 20:09, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
