Merge proposal[edit]

I think that with suitable revisions, Jyotiṣa resources is a better merge target. The "three part" classification in Jyotiṣa is beginning to look like WP:OR, given my (ongoing) reading of Pingree's fascicle. It's a complex subject because the relevant literature doesn't allow easy classifications, astronomy this, astrology that, and so on. Virtually every work had something to say on a lot of related subjects: divination, celestial events, horoscopy, katarchy, almanacs, astronomy, arithmetic, mathematics, etc etc etc. It might be best to consolidate all this stuff as a summary of Pingree in a Jyotihshastra article. rudra (talk) 17:27, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hora is approximately one hour time ruled by a particular planet, beginning from sun rise in every day. A vadic day is time between the two sun rises. Lords of the hours will run in cyclic order (Sun, venus, mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and again started with sun). Every weekday started with the lord of that day. please see http://www.astrojyoti.com/horapage.htm (Bulususastry (talk) 09:50, 19 April 2009 (UTC))[reply]

This form of astrology is also practiced in Cambodia and Thailand (Thai: โหร,โหรา,โหราจารย์) but I don't have references. --Pawyilee (talk) 11:37, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
