Speculative info???[edit]

Several major credible sources have reported the information that was on here, and since that is the case it is not crystal balling. Since User:Tecmobowl seems to incorectly think that it is could someone else fix it since it would take me over the 3 Revert Rule that User:Tecmobowl has already breached. Seriously grow up dood. It was an observation not an attack and what you are saying is a joke. If an album or a movie has a future release date scheduled and is reported by several sources it goes on here with no problem. A major league debut by a top prospect is no different. Did you even read the policy you are quoting because I already brought it up.

Individual scheduled or expected future events should only be included if the event is notable and almost certain to take place. If preparation for the event isn't already in progress, speculation about it must be well documented. Examples of appropriate topics include 2008 U.S. presidential election, and 2012 Summer Olympics. By comparison, the 2016 U.S. presidential election and 2036 Summer Olympics are not considered appropriate article topics because nothing can be said about them that is verifiable and not original research. A schedule of future events may also be appropriate.

Okay, settle down, you two. We're all just trying to improve the encyclopedia. :) To my eyes, it doesn't matter if Bailey is actually going to be called up or not. The fact that several news sources, in the recent past, reported his imminent callup makes it not a crystal ball situation. We should certainly not phrase it as "Homer Bailey will start this weekend" (that's crystal ball phrasing, since we cannot verify future events). Rather, we need to factually attribute the claim to a source. Saying "The Reds manager says that Bailey will start this weekend [1]" is fact. No crystal ball involved; there's no disputing that the Enquirer reported Narron's words. I'm not going to put E tac's version back yet, since edit wars are stupid, but Tecmobowl: please explain your reading of WP:NOT#CBALL and how it differs. -Phoenixrod 06:23, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Homer Bailey[edit]

(moved from my talk page) I saw your recent addition to the Bailey article. I hesitate to simply revert the statement because I understand the feelings surrounding that individual. However, that statement fails WP:NPOV. Perhaps you could rework it to make the statement a little more encyclopedic. However, I am inclined to remove the remark (and any traces of it). The facts of the situation should stand on their own. I want to give you a chance to edit the article before I simply strike the information. If you want to discuss this further, we can do so on the articles talk page. I feel that is the best location because interested parties are probably watching that talk page, but not yours. Well I can cite the 2007 Baseball Prospectus book for Bailey's status, as it lists him as the #2 pitching prospect in baseball and the #1 in the Reds organization. And it's one of the top scouting reports so it should be a fine source. As for Reds fans anticipating it... my main source was just FSN Ohio commentators and the fan reaction shown last night, but surely there's a source in print about this. - Thanks for following up here. I try and shy away from citing live brodcasts for any number of reasons. In the revision I posted earlier (which could still use some work mind you), I noted two polls that were presented during his minor league career. Perhaps utilizing that information and some cited information from BP, you can produce a well supported statement.
