This music is not "rock or punk"[edit]

There's no way that this music is rock or punk like the article used to say, although it is more rock/punkish than normal CCM. The music is either soft rock or a rock/CCM hybrid. 70.25.92.14 20:51, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hillsong United are christian rock & contemporary —Preceding unsigned comment added by Casket56 (talkcontribs) 05:08, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Their older music was light punk, i.e. I heart Revolution 110.140.122.134 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 23:49, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Discography[edit]

The Discography years has been changed a few times. I've left it as the year of release of the albums rather than the year recorded. If anyone disagrees please discuss it here before changing. Nath85 05:41, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've since simply added the month of release to clear things up. Nath85 05:52, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2006 Album[edit]

2006: Usually, the Saturday night in the Encounterfest convention is the time where United records there new album. This year they are doing something different. They recorded the WHOLE convention and will pick select songs to be in their 2006 album, which will release in Feburary 2007.

This is true...in the past! they are now recording a studio album. and not going to use the live stuff. Check this sorces for back up....

Album link naming[edit]

Why are they all under "___ (Hillsong album)" instead of "_____ (Hillsong United album)"? Hillsong is the name of a different "group", technically, and so the album names should reflect the "real" group. SKS2K6 04:55, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The "___ (Hillsong album)" is just to disambiguate from other articles that already exist. For example Best Friend is already an article, so Best Friend (Hillsong album) was used to disambiguate. All Hillsong albums had (Hillsong album) appended for consistency as they were all produced by the Hillsong church. I notice the existing Hillsong United albums have been moved to "___ (Hillsong United album)" which is fine, however there are some redirects that need taking care of. Also note the prepositions and articles in "All of the Above" (i.e. 'of' and 'the') should be in lower case (i.e. not "All Of The Above") to comply with album and song name guidelines (see the project link from the album's talk page). Thanks Marky1981 21:07, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know they're meant to disambiguate. It's just that there's a difference between a Hillsong album and a Hillsong United album. And most of the redirects were fixed; there are no double redirects. The system just took a while fixing all the template links. SKS2K6 02:07, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article focus[edit]

This article is about a Christian band that happens to be associated with a church. Please, let's keep the focus on the band. Information about the youth group is not needed, and does not meet Wikipedia's notability standards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Akradecki (talkcontribs) 17:02, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with the above statement "Information about the youth group is not needed, and does not meet Wikipedia's notability standards". Hillsong United is THE youth ministry of Hillsong Church, that happens to release albums. The article should focus on the youth ministry (which is called Hillsong United), with a section (which would be rather large) on the music and albums side of it. The 'Hillsong' table lists the 'Hillsong United' page under 'ministries' rather than 'music', so the page should be centred around the youth ministry, not just the music side of it. Dates[edit]

Shouldn't the main date be the release date, with a note about the recorded date after? SKS2K6 20:43, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:AOTH lrg.jpg[edit]

Image:AOTH lrg.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 17:16, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Member Section Arrangement[edit]

How are the names listed? Because it definitely isn't alphabetical which leads me to believe that somebody listed them in terms of "importance" perhaps.... Should it be alphabetical? In any case, I'm moving Marty Sampson to the "Former members" section, as he no longer is with the United band... at least from what I've seen of them over the past few years and according to the Marty Sampson page. Killiondude (talk) 06:37, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

I'll be working on cleaning up this article over the next few weeks as I'm able. If somebody else gets there first, thank you. I can't believe the article has survived in this form for so long. It reflects poorly on Wikipedia and Hillsong United both. Wiki Wizard (GDG) (talk) 19:07, 4 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Discography (separated)[edit]

I separated the studio albums, live and acoustic albums, and E.P.s from each other to give more accurate information. I will add resources later in the weekend. May 9, 2014 Ilovechristianmusic (talk) 22:22, 9 May 2014 (UTC)ilovechristianmusic[reply]

If a discography exists, only studio albums should be listed in an artist's article's discography section. I trust that you are not planning on creating multiple discography articles. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:51, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why were my headers to the different lists of albums removed? When I came to this page looking for information on the Hillsong United albums I was confused by the 3 lists of albums with no titles. I had to look up each album to try to find the differences. I gave those lists titles, because it was notable information. The reason given for reverting my change was "If a discography article exists, we only list studio albums in the band article". Hillsong United doesn't have a discography page, and even if it did, wouldn't that mean there should only be the list of studio albums? According to WikiProject_Discographies/style "Separate types of releases (such as studio albums, live albums, extended plays, etc.) are generally split up into individual sections and tables." which this page has, except they are not in their own sections, they do not have headers/titles, this information just confuses the reader, and for no reason. --Benvlodgi (talk) 13:21, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Check the history. I did. The revert, which I added stated, "If a discography article exists, we only list studio albums in the band article. I suppose I should have remove the entries as well as the headings. Walter Görlitz (talk) 14:52, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, I saw your comment, I infact mentioned it in my post. And as I said before Hillsong United does NOT have a discography page, so ALL of their albums SHOULD be listed. The Hillsong music page is for all Hillsong music, not specifically Hillsong United, which is a separate band. When I as a user come to this page, I am not given the information I desire, which is to see the discography of Hillsong United, I don't want to have to go through the Hillsong music's page to find that there were more albums than listed on the UNITED page. Benvlodgi (talk) 18:04, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hillsong Music Australia#Hillsong United albums is what I consider a discography article. I could be mistaken though, but either we remove the main template that someone else put there or we remove the duplication of material. Either way, something has to be removed. Walter Görlitz (talk) 19:26, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I honestly don't know what to call that page, while it does have discography information about Hillsong United, it is more of a page about Hillsong music in general, including their other bands and discography information of them aswel. Perhaps a new discography page should be created for United, and possibly others.Benvlodgi (talk) 18:24, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I see your point and agree. It's more of a discography of bands associated with the label or at least the church(es). I'm not sure how to address that. Walter Görlitz (talk) 18:42, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hillsong United (band)Hillsong United – The target is currently a redirect here and there is no other similarly named article. There is no need for a disambiguator in the title. I plan to move within a week if no discussion ensues. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:05, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Butseriouslyfolks: You originally made the move. Any comments or concerns? Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:08, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Move I agree with nominator's rationale. My advice is to add a hatnote to differentiate this article from the related ministry, Hillsong United. Also there may have to be a clean up of various redirects, e.g. where should Hillsong Youth go to: the church (current destination) or to this band article?shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:49, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • I would argue that the programmes should be directed to the church article. Walter Görlitz (talk) 14:35, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Move Following WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, I think the band is undoubtedly the primary subject, but a hatnote should be added to the top of the article leading to the Hillsong ministry. Eg.:
{{About|the Hillsong Church youth worship band|the youth ministry of Hillsong Church|Hillsong Church#Hillsong United}}
