Ecological damage[edit]

Proponents do not disagree that the building of the highway damages the environment, but counter with the extensive investment and care in minimizing this inherent damage - what should THAT mean? There is a society called "Citizen for Highway 6" which donates money for these purposes? Or does it mean that the highway owners donate money to the conservation of wild animals? Who performs "extensive investment and care", and to what projects they invest (and how much)? --Urod 20:54, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Although I agree that some additional info on who these 'proponents' are would be useful, I don't think it's required to understand the sentence. I personally have no idea who donates this money. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 21:20, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Standards[edit]

I made some changes that may be subject to a wider consensus on standards. My understanding was that the appelation "Highway" was reserved for [blue] freeways and "Route" for [red] major roads, with "road" used for 3-digit green and 4-digit brown arteries. I understand that this isn't uniform: the reference to 3 & 7 as routes and 443 as a highway illustrate the exceptions. Cheers, TewfikTalk 03:48, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That bothered me for a while as well, there's not really a consensus, and the simple hebrew 'kvish' that descibes highways to four-digit paved roads doesn't describe the importance/size of the road itself. Thanks for fixing it up. --Shuki 20:37, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speed Limit[edit]

Should speed limit be mentioned? As far as I know, even though officially all highways in Israel have a limit of 110km/h, only Highway 6 currently allows this speed (the other highways have a lower posted limit).--EngineeringCat 06:23, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong thing[edit]

The KM count shouldn't start from 66, since that part of the road doesn't actually exist. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.68.248.122 (talk) 2 December 2008

I don't see the harm. The road's planners/builders use this method, and it's effective to demonstrate how much has been unbuilt. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 18:17, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I also don't see any harm in using the official kilometer designations. On the other hand, creating a new set of kilometer designations different from those in actual and official use would be harmful. M Carling 10:26, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't driven the road, but the obvious question for me is: Are there actual kilometer markers posted along the road? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.126.42.254 (talk) 20:50, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Materials[edit]

Some relevant articles that I haven't had time to go over:

Segments free of charge[edit]

The highway's southern segments from Ma'ahaz to Soreq are free of toll collection. I think it is because the state has paid for their construction, rather than the licensed operator, but I'm not sure. Kulystab (talk) 23:48, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you are correct, but have no sources whatsoever on this subject. I suggest that you search the Israeli news sites to see if they mention anything about this. —Ynhockey (Talk) 18:42, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Future Extensions[edit]

The article should have a section describing the officially planned future extensions to the north and south and the table should include that information. This information is in the Hebrew language article, but I would rather not rely on Google to translate it because I'm sure some of the wikipedians here are competent in both English and Hebrew. Map picture needs to be updated[edit]

Just by looking at where the road should be on the map it's clear than an updated map is needed to address the new sections that opened in the North, and possibly show its planned areas as well.Saxophonemn (talk) 09:49, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
