Vokssturm[edit]

The prefix "Volks-" is not the abbreviation of Volkssturm. As this translates to "People's", it's intention only is to make a relation to the people. Volkssturm was the Third Reich's continuation of the prussian Landsturm.

The prefix "Volks-" is generally used in the german speaking areas, e.g.:

During the Third Reich 1933-1945, it's intention was to bolster morale. Multiple terms were matched with "Volks-" in that time:

Also the German Democratic Republic used that concept from 1949-1990:
