Referencing Travel by Henry Chandos Pole Gell - in the Diary of Percy Cavell, his trip to America September - November 1884. (Verifiable from a copy of a handwritten diary, now in digital format.)

Percy (de Monchet?) Cavell, a Member of the Stock Exchange, and clearly very well connected, mentions meeting Henry CP in New York early September 1884 and some time later - date uncertain - at Clifton House Hotel in Niagara, commenting his age must have been around 60 and height 5 feet & enormously stout. The pair travelled together to Montreal, staying at the Windsor Hotel then to Quebec staying at the St.Louis Hotel then separately to Boston where they met up again at the Hotel Vendome. Mention is made of a barrister friend of Henry CP who took them on a tour of Boston, and the following day to Bunkers Hill Monument, and Cambridge to visit Harvard University. (The friend may be a Mr. Parker, apparently one of the Governors of Harvard.) The day after that, possibly 22nd or 23rd of October, they pair departed for New York, Henry CP staying at the 5th Avenue Hotel, Percy Cavell at the Windsor, and the two then split up.
