Birthplace[edit]

Is Detroit correct? I have two books which list Carr's birthplace as Montgomery, Alabama. The other book, A World History of Track and Field Athletics 1864-1964 by R.L. Quercetani (Finnish translation: Kilpakenttien Kuninkaat) says: "Carr was born in Montgomery, but went in school in Detroit." --Vongoiva (talk) 08:17, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Born in small town close to Montgomery. No birth certificate, using family Bible Record as proof as birth. Common practice during 1940's. 11/18/09 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.170.73.18 (talk) 01:40, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
