This sounds a hell of a lot like Brandy Butter, or a very slight variation upon it. Can someone please add appropriate detail to justify why the two of them should not be merged / redirected / etc? 193.63.174.10 (talk) 19:46, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure which way the merger should go, but I've added "merge" templates to both articles to bring it to the attention of other editors. (You can do that yourself, as well.) --Macrakis (talk) 20:59, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm all in favour of a merge. Brandy butter and hard sauce are both the same thing. Both names are used in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, etc. I'm not sure which way the merge should go either, though I'm not sure that it matters much.
Just looked this up having seen it in an American cartoon as I had never heard of 'hard sauce'. I do not think this is a term sed in the UK at all. I have never heard it in any part of England, Wales or Scotland, nor seen it on a menu, be that at Christmas or any other time. Brandy butter, yes. Hard sauce, never.
