Nationalities[edit]

It seems that there seems to be some confusion by some editors over which nationality should appear in the squad list. The flags should remain for the first country the player was eligible for unless they have played for another country. So players like Tvrtko Kale remain Croatian even though they have received Israeli citizenship and players like Ali El-Khatib get new flags because they have played for other national teams. A good example for Tvrtko Kale is that of Maor Melikson on the page for Wisła Kraków where he will remain Israeli unless he plays for the senior team of Poland. -NYC2TLV (talk) 16:51, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Flags are a sore issue in squad lists - as this nonsense shows. Ali El-Khatib has represented Palestine at senior international level, and as the squad list states clearly that "Note: Flags indicate national team as has been defined under FIFA eligibility rules. Players may hold more than one non-FIFA nationality", he should be represented by the Palestinian flag. With Marko Kartelo, he has represented Croatia at youth international level, and so should be represented by the Croatian flag - regardless of any secondary nationality he acquired through residency in a foreign country.
