COMMENTS BELOW ARE A C&P FROM THE OLD HANNS MARTIN SCHLEYER PRIZE article (BLAR'd)

Why should there be a WP article about this Prize?[edit]

This article appears to be promotional content. Can an editor state the significance and notability of this award, beyond the promotion of its corporate sponsor? Please provide secondary Reliable Sources for the text of the article. SPECIFICO talk 18:46, 27 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think WP:POTENTIAL applies. – S. Rich (talk) 01:53, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

List of awardees[edit]

I think including a list of the awardees is helpful. It can be expanded upon by specifying the criteria which the award committee relied upon and what the awardees talked about in their acceptance speeches. – S. Rich (talk) 19:44, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

First things first. This looks like no more than corporate PR to me. I made sure to check that the winners were listed on the prize website and added a link for those readers who need to research their names. Let's find some reliable sources that discuss this prize. Otherwise I think it's going the way of the dodo bird. Just because Daimler is able to get the cooperation of, or avoid being snubbed by various individuals does not make this award notable. Actually I think the Pillsbury Bakeoff may be more notable. SPECIFICO talk 20:15, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Now tagged refimprove. Admittedly (previously) promotional with the adjectives, but pruning such language is the way to go. – S. Rich (talk) 20:22, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I would very much like to see some secondary sources that discuss the prize and its significance. That would be helpful. We need more eyes on this page. SPECIFICO talk 20:46, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal[edit]

I propose that this article be merged into Hanns Martin Schleyer Foundation. Each topic could and would receive better coverage. A WP:BLAR would accomplish the merger nicely. If the section for the prize becomes mores substantial (at a later time) it can be recreated as a new article. – S. Rich (talk) 21:56, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea. Make it so, and meanwhile let's get that gratuitous list out of the article space and restore the link to the Foundation web page. SPECIFICO talk 22:05, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I shall, but first I'll wait for our Deutsche Freund to chime in. – S. Rich (talk) 22:13, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure that's necessary. Policy supports you and he can have his say at any time after the merge if he has policy-driven dissent. Thanks. SPECIFICO talk 22:15, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
