Technical tag[edit]

I've responded to the tag by increasing the amount of internal linking. It would be good to know which sections are most in need of clarification. Mikenorton (talk) 19:15, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The reference to 'fishing warp in the SAC section is quite opaque to me, and I would presume, to others. What does it mean? A quick scan through the given reference didn't assist but perhaps I just missed it. Either way it needs some explanation in the article as to what the term means and how it is relevant. cheers Geopersona (talk) 19:09, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The warps are the cables that are used to pull the trawling gear, although neither of our articles on trawling or fishing trawler make it clear. Let me think about how to better link this to clarify the use of the term. Mikenorton (talk) 20:46, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've tried to make it clearer - let me know if it needs some more work. Mikenorton (talk) 18:23, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for taking time on this Mike. I presume then that the margin of the protected area is extended thus (ie to 330m) so that the trawl net of a ship whose surface position is at the margin of the protected area, would not extend into the protected area at the sea floor and hence have the potential to cause damage. I'm still not sure that that matter (if I have it right) is immediately apparent to the reader. The mention in the text of figures for the warp ratio ie 3:1, might not appear to the uninitiated as having any relevance to the designation. Nowhere in the article is there any reference to the dragging of trawl nets over the area as being potentially damaging - inclusion of that fact (if fact it be) would help make the link in the reader's mind. cheers Geopersona (talk) 10:27, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a sentence on the rationale, with a DEFRA case study that happens to use Haig Fras as its example. Mikenorton (talk) 12:41, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That improves matters. thanks Geopersona (talk) 19:36, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
