No longer monotypic[edit]

Gulo is no longer considered monotypic, with at least one fossil species assigned to the genus.--Leptictidium (mt) 10:47, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I updated the categories. Ideally this should be expanded into an article (possibly a short one) covering the wolverine and any fossil species. Rlendog (talk) 13:29, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.--Leptictidium (mt) 10:37, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Martes pennanti (fisher cat) is considered more closely related to Gulo gulo than to other members of genus Martes and has been renamed Pekania pennanti. I am not sure whether there would be implications for Gulo were this to become accepted. DCDuring (talk) 14:34, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

NCBI has Pekania in the same subfamily (Guloninae) as Gulo. DCDuring (talk) 14:47, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
