Prior to Guide Plus Gemstar sold a subscription service and device called Video Guide, listings were delivered over the pager network and if I remember right the fees were $5 a month for guide and $2.50 each for News and Sports listings.

Guide Plus used to offer a news feed with Guide Plus but it was discontinued and the News menu disappeared from my RCA set.

Data updated to get ATI's Gemstar Guide Plus working again[edit]

OTA data feed for TVGOS going away[edit]

It appears Rovi is discontinuing the OTA data feeds which update TV Guide On Screen and variants. They are due to complete dismantling the system in April 2013.
