Legacy of the American Grosvenors...[edit]

The article does note that the English aristocratic family as seeing their origin with the Norman invasion, and of Hugh the great hunter. Very well. Yet this might not be true of the American line. I read an article once, 30 years ago - and if I can ever find it I will place in footnotes, possibly amend the main article itself - that said the American Grosvenors, or at least much of them, see their origin rather in John Grosvenor of Roxbury Mass., who emigrated from England in the middle of the 17th century (very early, therefore). The writer went on to note that he had actually changed his surname from the family name "Gravenor" to the more prestigious Grosvenor. It was a convincing, well written and researched, article though not at all necessarily determinative... Nonetheless, we here at Wiki can do some research into this, as the two general families (the British and the American) may not have the same beginnings. — Preceding unsigned comment added by John G.
