BLP[edit]

A claim was made on the page that the subject disapproves of the article, however, it seems to largely reiterate points made on his own official pointlist biography, so I don't know where this stands. Francoise Sturdza[edit]

I removed the words "Swiss princess" next to Ms. Sturdza. There is no such thing as a Swiss princess. It seems Ms. Sturdza likes to call herself that. The most relevant source provided was a Hindustan Times article, which actually puts quotes around the term, and handles it with more than a grain of salt ("does it matter?" is GDB quoted replying in that source).

For the record, Sturdza is not a even name of Swiss origin. There is indeed a Sturdza living in Switzerland who affects to give himself the title "prince" in some circumstances, just like anybody is allowed to introduce himself as "master of the universe".128.178.14.162 (talk) 07:11, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is incorrect there were Swiss Princes the Princes of Neufchatel most notably. Francoise Sturdza is from Switzerland and has a reason to call herself Princess. She is a citizen of Switzerland and a Princess of the Romanian House of Sturdza which is an Ottoman Turkish creation. Under the Turks two parts of what is now the country of Romania Moldavia and Wallachia and their tax collection were leased to the highest bidder on regular intervals. The winning bidder was declared Prince with the title remaining usable by the winner and their heirs indefinitely. Occupation[edit]

The subject is clearly a novelist, heroin smuggler, Indian mafiaosa, bank robber and possibly now charity organiser. To call him a philsopher or poet implies he has published or made a living from it. Cod philosophy maybe but this is no career. Indeed he spent his life from pre 1980 (aged under 28 to 1995 (43) either committing crimes or paying for them in prison. Boils (talk) 09:59, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Novel used as reference[edit]

This article mentions the author's book Shantaram as a reference. It would be better if it is mentioned as Further Reading since the book is a novel, and not an autobiography. Please remove the article![edit]

On the official website Gregory David Roberts himself asks to delete all the information about him in the internet (especially wikipedia). As the letter say he made a decision to leave public life. Now he want readers to value his works and pay no attention to his personality at all.

Who and how can do it?..

As much as he may want to leave, he is in the archives. Deleting this page won't remove previous copies from the Internet Archive and other locations.

Personally, he is a public figure and, as such, can not expect his request to be honored.

I trust there is a wiki board policy on this matter -- he certainly can't be the first one to want to vanish from sight. While wiki tries hard to control information submitted about public figures (proved facts, no trash or opinions), I doubt policy allows removal enough to dig into it. If Roberts really wants to get out of the public eye, he should stop doing noteworthy things like writing high-profile novels. Otherwise, try reincarnation. --Dawud
