Notre Dame College[edit]

Notre Dame College-- What is the status of Notre Dame College in the conference? The articles I have read lately have listed 6 charter members with Notre Dame being the one not mentioned. Are they still going to be a charter member or even in the conference when it starts up? Fantasyleaguer (talk) 23:14, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

By all indications, it looks like NDC has exited the conference so I removed them from the members list and adjusted the membership in the infobox back to 6. In all of the recent press releases such as the new commissioner, there is no mention of Notre Dame College and also mentions of 6 G-MAC members, where if NDC was still here there'd be 7. I was leaning towards them leaving the conference, but I thought it would have been mentioned on Notre Dame's own website that they chose not to join the Conference. Maybe they are waiting to make it official before say they chose not to join the GMAC. Fantasyleaguer (talk) 23:13, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Since there is no mention of them in the recent press releases it's safe to leave them off for now. I have a feeling you're right and they haven't made an official announcement that they chose not to join until they get confirmation from another conference. Or we may seem them back if/when the GMAC becomes an official conference from the NCAA in January. Either way it looks like a somewhat messy situation, esp considering they've been pushing for a conference with the other Ohio schools for awhile. One thing I've noticed with the addition of Trevecca and Kentucky Weselyn is the GMAC seems to be looking for more members in KY and TN which may be a reason NDC is looking at other options. It may also be as simple as: the GMAC is not an official conference yet so NDC hasn't really left anything. Bhockey10 (talk) 05:32, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have been wondering if distance was an issue, because Cleveland, OH area to Owensboro, KY is quite a distance from each other and Cleveland to Nashville don't sound any better either. But then Ursuline is in the Cleveland area as well. I have read that the conference is looking to expand to 10 teams and two schools I have read that are possibilities are Georgetown, KY and Kentucky State. I agree they have not left anything yet. It's official now and what I heard rumors for. Looks like NDC left the G-MAC in hope to join the GLIAC. And will now have affiliate status for some of NDC's major sports in 2012: http://www.gliac.org/general_news/2011-12/GLIAC_NDC_Affiliate_Membership Bhockey10 (talk) 01:44, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Conference Changes[edit]

I am surprised that Urbana will leave the conference for the Mountain East. Other than Notre Dame being in it with them, which is a surprise to me too, I don't know why they are in it. As for Virginia-Wise, I can see them leaving for the MEC because the teams in the MEC are closer to VA Wise and I am sure there is a history between the schools as well. On Cumberland and Georgetown[edit]

I would like to remove the section possible future members as there are indications that both Cukberland University and Georgetown College have no plans to apply to the conference in the near future. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rube Dali (talkcontribs) 18:58, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I definitely agree with this, as Cumberland and Georgetown did not apply for D2 membership in 2015 or 2016, and show no inclination to apply in 2017. I will probably undertake this soon, leaving a note about the two schools up-in-the-air status in the History section of the article. We can always recover their info if they do apply.
