Changes to Article

I made changes to the article with a reliable source. Grantism was defined by U.S. Senator Charles Sumner in 1872. Throughout the years it has had evolving definitions. {Cmguy777 (talk) 20:15, 28 November 2009 (UTC)}

That is true. Since Sumner created the term it is best to define "Grantism" as he defined the word. Further investigation should be done to find more definitions on Grantism.{Cmguy777 (talk) 21:03, 28 November 2009 (UTC)}

In the current revision, the text is all one chunk (3 paragraphs). It would help to have a short (one-sentence) lede, then mark a section for origins, then another for subsequent meanings, etc. Tedickey (talk) 21:30, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

"tenacious" is probably redundant, unless there's a source which points this out in particular Tedickey (talk) 22:34, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Grant as reformer

I added a new section to the article on Grant as a reformer. The section is incomplete. However, I believe this adds balance to the article and alleviates POV against Grant. Cmguy777 (talk) 06:08, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Clarify?

I don't understand this sentence:

"It [the term 'Grantism'] was made to create a distinction between what Sumner believed between the Republican Party and Ulysses S. Grant."

I guess it's the double 'between' that's throwing me. Do we mean to say 'Grantism' created a distinction between (a) what Sumner believed the Republican Party to be (and/or represented, i.e. his own beliefs) and (b) the party under Grant?
