Proposed merge[edit]

I think that Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance is simply a rename of the current category, albiet with slightly varied criteria, and therefore should be merged with this list. Adabow (talk · contribs) 05:24, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have no problem with the merge as long as the 2012 change is mentioned in the lead. The categories are similar enough to allow a continuation, unless the current category list becomes too long and a fork is required. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:09, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It potentially could be merged. I'm not sure whether I endorse doing so or not. On the one hand it is somewhat of a new award. It includes the recordings that would be submitted for Pop Performance by a Duo or Group. However it also includes recordings that are collaborations (there used to be an award for Best Pop Collaboration) and even instrumental tracks. An instrumental track which is performed by more than one person can be submitted in this category. In terms of discussing a merger I think these terms should be discussed first so some kind of a consensus can be reached. --MusicGeek101 (talk) 14:19, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I strongly recommend NOT to merge this category. As with many other newly formed Grammy categories for the 2012 award season, the Grammy organisation regards this one as a brand new category which should stand on its own. Also, as this category is a combination of two previous (now discontinued) categories, any merger would become very complicated. • No it should not be merged at all. As Zighlveit mentioned the Recording Academy considers it a brand new category. The previous (Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals) category was inteded for Groups or Duos WITH Vocals. In this one we have not only instrumental group or duos but also collaborative performances which can be either instrumental or vocal. So it is not just a rename. Sorry. Clarification[edit]

It seems like the nominations in both 1970 and 1971 contain a mixture of singles and albums. Is this correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.71.17.254 (talk) 09:43, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
