What are the sources for his "Rambo reputation" in 1991 War?

Edit to Goran Visnjic[edit]

To those whinging about my edits to this page; I only made one recent edit -- from US to international nominals in date of birth (as per instructions from Jtdirl some time ago re US and European nominals).

As Visnjic is not a US citizen, and most of his history is European, I felt his date of birth should utilize international nominals.

As that was the only edit (I admit I made prior edits linking him to the politics of his father-in-law but subsequently changed my mind, although not entirely), I don't understand what I am supposed to discuss. Too bad those who act as censors too often reduce themselves to Demiurge's level and don't even bother checking what it is they are rving.

The label of censor is one that annoys me greatly; do not attribute it to me lightly. Unless the line "where he joined the nascent Croatian Army in battling the Krajina Serbs, who would almost all eventually be ethnically cleansed or forced to flee" has been included within the definition of nominal, your wounded pride is a bit misplaced. You do realise that your edits are tracked, right?
I am curious, though, and I'm not being flippant: the sheer number of edits involving Croatia are interesting. I know nothing about the situation; is there some tug-of-war regarding this? CMacMillan 21:43, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jane Austen Handheld[edit]

Goran Visnjic's participation in Jane Austen Handheld has not been confirmed by the production company or indeed any other trade journal. To date, only Lilly Allen is officially signed up and Russell Brand withdrew. There has been no mention of the production in the US or UK press since October/November 2007 and the purported start time for filming has long passed. While Goran Visnjic may appear as Mr. Darcy, a reference in a dubious tabloid magazine is, frankly, as reliable as the rumors that he would appear in the latest Bond movie. --Svetalna monsoon (talk) 19:15, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Now credited as Goran Visnjic in his English-language work, he adopted the simplified spelling of his name when he came to the United States in the late '90s, believing it would be more accessible to American audiences. [1]

I don't believe this is a valid encyclopedic rationale for changing the title. His actual name (what's in his official documents, from the birth certificate onwards) did not change, it's merely stripped of diacritics in typical English-language texts, like it is done with any other such non-ASCII text.

It certainly does little to make his surname accessible to the audience, because the word remains practically impossible to pronounce in English in either form, it's simply foreign to the language.

So I suggest we move the article back to the title with diacritics, because losing them doesn't contribute anything, it just removes legitimate information. There should typically be no problems with access these days, because we already rely on readers having modern browsers that can render those UTF-8 characters in a wide variety of other articles, and the redirects will handle incoming traffic on all variants.

Excessive images[edit]

Is there a reason why nearly identical images of the actor are being uploaded to the article? Yes, he's cute, but that's not a valid reason to overload page with nearly identical imagery. I have already warned the editor doing it about violating 3RR and invited him to discuss the issue here. Quis separabit? 14:13, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the latest comment[edit]

@Drmargi: "This is done all over WP with naturalized citizens." The precedent on wikipedia is, as already stated, that the secondary nationality is not listed in the lead section unless its notable for whatever reason (note that finagling with visas and work permits does not equal notability). Boris Johnson is not a "British-american". Lionel Messi is not listed as Spanish and Kyrie Irving is not listed as Australian. Its all usually covered in the personal life section. I disagree, moreover, none of your examples is comparable. Goran Visnjic is an American citizen, resident and working in the US since the mid-90s. In cases such as this, the secdond nationality is appropriately included (see for example Nathan Fillion).
