Before anyone puts this article up for deletion, it isn't finished and the distinction between the suburb of Southport and the CBD area is one that I think has not been made. Yes, the CBD is inside the suburb of Southport but it doesn't encompass the whole area of the suburb. It's only a small area of the suburb and I feel it deserves its own article, like other CBDs in Australia. There is plenty of history associated with the area and I think, with some help from other editors, this article could become very interesting and unlike the umbrella that is the Southport, Queensland article.

infobox - neighbours not needed[edit]

As the Gold Coast CBD isn't formally bounded, I am not sure it is meaningful to have "neighbours" in the infobox. I realise that Brisbane CBD does have neighbours in its infobox, but that article is (rightly or wrongly) a combination of the suburb of Brisbane City and the central business district and, being a suburb, does have boundaries and hence neighbours. Personally I think the Brisbane CBD article should be teased apart from two articles as the Brisbane CBD area extends well beyond the boundaries of the suburb of Brisbane City, but that's a separate discussion! However, as Southport and Gold Coast CBD do have separate articles, it only really makes sense for Southport to have neighbouring suburbs in its infobox.
