Trimming it Down[edit]

Parts of this article appear unencyclopedic, read like trivia, and are very quote heavy; it reads like a fan project. For example:

  • "Steve Cunningham moved to Vienna in 1969 to study linguistics. He studied an M.A in German language and began work as a technical writer, a profession that he's still currently in," reads like a "where are they now?" segment.
  • Or "Notable fans of the album include Manos Hatzidakis, Andrew VanWyngarden and David Grubbs," reads like trivia.
  • Thompson also talked about recording at Gold Star, saying, "That was a real recording studio in the grand style. It was modeled on Gold Star... So it was okay, the gear was a bit primitive... Mostly we recorded 4-track, but when we needed extra tracks we could fly in 3 outboard tracks from submixing stuff... We eschewed all technical embellishment. EQ was all set flat. We recorded flat. No reverb on that record until the very last tune. 'Night Song', it drifts, the reverb is jacked up, very obviously, but before that there is no reverb. All you hear is just the acoustics of the room." This also reads like trivia.

I would heavily suggest removing the first two points and rewriting the third as Thompson claimed that the band "eschewed all technical embellishment," for recording. Maxx-♥ talk and coffee ☕ 20:19, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have done as I outlined above. There are other changes that should be made in a similar fashion, however. Maxx-♥ talk and coffee ☕ 20:30, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Liner notes credit to "The Red Krayola"[edit]

Is it not important to adhere to the original LP? Reissues and sites will change credits of an album overtime, but for this being the official page, shouldn't it be based on the original album. The Parable of Arable Land credits the record to "The Red Crayola with the Familiar Ugly" and that's what it is listed on the page, this credits the album to "The Red Krayola" they refer to themselves both ways later on, but the original album is credited to "The Red Krayola". Sure, the 1960s albums had the band billed as "The Red Crayola" on the first one and "The Red Krayola" on the second one. The Familiar Ugly was not credited on any of these LP labels. But all we need in the article is one mention of this. We don't need to keep it up all through the article. Binksternet (talk) 15:33, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It is cited as being by "The Red Krayola" on the AllMusic page and the album is called "God Bless the Red Krayola" not "God Bless Red Krayola". For example, The Velvet Underground are sometimes cited as "Velvet Underground" but that isn't their full band name, it's still "The Velvet Underground". I'm going to change it one more time because this seems very pedantic and makes no sense, wikipedia lists them as "Red Krayola" even though they go as "The Red Krayola", most citations just shorten the name. https://www.allmusic.com/album/god-bless-the-red-krayola-and-all-who-sail-with-it-mw0000115045 here's the AllMusic source. Pitchfork also cites a "The" https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/11813-the-parable-of-arable-land-god-bless-the-red-krayola-and-all-who-sail-with-it/ If you go to every single wiki page of a red krayola album it's credited to "The Red Krayola".
