Glossary created[edit]

This glossary is intended to collect any terms related to the design, construction, componentry or systems used in prestressed concrete. This would include pre-tensioning, post-tensioning, bonded/unbonded, strand systems, wire systems, bar systems, stressing, grouting, analysis, design, etc.

Finding sources[edit]

I have used terminology documents from the American Concrete Institute^[1] and Post Tensioning Institute^[2] for as many entries as I can, but there remain a good number which are currently unsourced. In general these fall into two categories:

Those which are considered reasonably obvious
e.g. "Flat tendon = a tendon installed with no curvature ..."
Those which are fairly specific to particular areas of (often site) operation
e.g. "Grout tube = tubular component connected to an anchor or duct through which grout is pumped ..."
I will expand my search to find sources for as many of these as I can, but I expect some will remain unsourced.
Do these need to be deleted?

Finally, some definitions have varied a little from those in the referenced sources, mainly because the scope of this glossary is considerably wider than some of the referencing organisations. This glossary is intended to cover all fields of prestressing including:

Pre-tensioning
Post-tensioning
Bonded tendons
Unbonded tendons
Steel, wire, carbon-fibre, etc tensioned elements.

This has meant that I have tried to re-work some definitions to suit as wide an audience as possible. For example, the PTI ^[2] mostly deals with unbonded post-tensioning, and so some of its definitions have needed to be expanded to suit our greater scope.
